As we close out June, the summer fishing pattern continues to build. With the moon phase approaching, expect stronger tidal movement and increased feeding activity from both inshore and nearshore species. Snook fishing should remain excellent around the major tide changes as fish continue staging for the spawn, while redfish are settling into their predictable summer routines. Along the beaches, tarpon are still making their migration south, and anglers are finding opportunities to sight-cast to rolling fish during the calmer morning conditions. Offshore and along the bait schools, albies (bonita) continue to provide fast-paced action as they blitz glass minnows on the surface. Few fish can match the speed and drag-screaming runs of a fired-up albie on light tackle. With warm water, abundant bait, and favorable tides, the coming week should offer some of the best fishing opportunities of the summer.
