The summer fishing pattern is continuing to take shape, and one of the most exciting developments has been the arrival of false albacore along the beaches. Large schools have been aggressively feeding on glass minnows, creating fast-paced action for anglers lucky enough to get within casting range. Pound for pound, there are few fish that can match the blistering runs of a false albacore—other than a bonefish, it’s hard to find anything that can make a light tackle reel scream quite like these speedsters. Tarpon continue their migration down the coastline, while the inshore bite remains productive with snook feeding well around moving water and redfish settling into their early summer routines. With calm mornings and plenty of bait around, now is a great time to be on the water.
